“Can I use the energy from your solar panels while you are on holiday?”
Like so many good ideas, Powerpeers answers a simple question: how can households share their self-generated electricity?
Founder Lars Falch: “With the current tech surely it must be possible to share the electricity from your solar panels!
Small-scale producers and consumers form a network on the Powerpeers platform. Community members can view in near real time how much electricity they have shared and used; from or with who.
And if there is more demand than supply, Powerpeers meets the excess demand with electricity from other sustainable sources. That too is immediately visible on the powerpeers energydashboard.
The platform launched in June 2016 in the Netherlands to consumers and small energy producers. Together with the whole Powerpeers community, we are continuously improving our platform. We also work towards better regulation to enable an even wider uptake of small-scale sustainable electricity generation. Power to the people!
